WELCOME TO SGT. ALVIN JONKER

Teamwork ~ Leadership ~ Commitment
As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group.  Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in the Persian Gulf, Korea, Kosovo, the war on terrorism or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.

Commander's Corner

Commander Ted Raggl

As my sixteen-year tenure as commander of the Grand Haven VFW draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the remarkable journey we have shared together. Over the years, our post has witnessed tremendous growth and transformation, and I am proud of how far we have come in our mission to support veterans.

One of our most significant accomplishments has been turning Rib Fest into our largest annual fundraiser, providing substantial resources to assist veterans in need. Likewise, the Coast Guard Festival has become a cornerstone event, further strengthening our commitment to veterans and the broader community. Our Honor Guard continues to exemplify respect and gratitude, standing watch at memorials and performing gun salutes to honor the sacrifices made by those who have served our country.

With nearly 500 members across the post, auxiliary, and DADs groups, our collective efforts have enabled us to support a wide array of initiatives. From volunteering at Community Day at Culver’s and the Love Inc. Food Truck, to hosting BINGO at the Grand Rapids Veteran’s Home, supporting Camp Trotter activities, and organizing drives for warm clothes and mittens, our dedication to veterans and their families has remained steadfast.

At the heart of our organization is the unwavering belief that veterans deserve a welcoming space to connect, share stories, and find camaraderie. Creating that sense of belonging has always been central to our mission.

As I pass the torch to our new Post Board, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported me throughout my time as commander of VFW Post 2326 Grand Haven. Serving this extraordinary group has been both an honor and a privilege. I look forward with excitement to the bright future that lies ahead for our organization and the continued impact we will have on the lives of veterans and their families.
